Walking

The Centre is at 1400' above sea leval on an old railway lineand is adjacent to an area of moorland plateau at over 2000' altitude. 2km along the old railway line is the start of the 'Pen-y-Fan' with high level (2500'+) but not too difficult walking. Views are superb. Walking at this height means weather conditions can change dramatically from hot and sunny to the inside of a freezing cloud in seconds.

There is ample 'low level' walking at or below the railway line level around the lakes and forest.

Mountain Biking

There are a number of 'Green Roads' in the area, many are old Roman roars leading towards Brecon, an ancient garrison. The Taf Trail passes some 400 meters away and runs scenically all the way to Cardiff southwards and towards Brecon to the north. It is suitable for mountain bikes. Please remember that a mountain bike has a higher ground pressure than a Scorpion tank and any tracks cut in the grass on the moors can take up to 50 years to re-grow in these harch conditions. So stay on the paths.

Climbing and Abseiling

About 3km away at Morlais Quarry there is superb climbing at all levels up to E2 and abseiling at heights from 70' down.
