Canoeing

We are some 50mt from a reservoir BUT canoeing is currently very strictly controlled and only available at the moment with consent of the adjacent Dolygaer Outdoor Education Centre. A BCU Senior Instructor must be on the water whenever canoes are used.

the Brecon Canal is some 10km away and is one of the most beautiful in Britain and 33 miles long. For much of its length it is parallel to the River Usk, a 'pool and drop' type river with grade 2-4 rapids. This has a wel enforced access agreement but is available in the closed season to BCU members.

Sailing

All sailing is controlled by a local sailing club. There are prohibited zones all round the edge of the reservoir and access for canoes or sailing craft is from 2 points only. A rescue boat is required at all times that sailing is in progress.

Windsurfing

Windsurfing is also controlled by a local sailing club. It is possible that the adjacent Dolygaer Outdoor Education Centre may put on a coursefor users if given adequate notice and if other committments permit. Competent windsurfers are welcomed by the sailing club ('a day membership' may be available) when the club is on the water. The Outdoor Centre staff (see links) will be able to put you in touch with the Club Secretary.
